About the book

Product recalls impact thousands of products each year, affecting millions of customers and creating significant challenges for companies, from financial losses to reputational damage. High-profile examples like the Takata airbag recall and viral product failures highlight the scale and consequences of these events.

Effective recall management requires careful coordination across supply chains, legal departments, marketing, and customer relations. A well-planned approach not only protects consumers but also preserves company reputation, while addressing the needs of regulators, investors, and the wider public.

This book offers a practical guide for navigating the full recall process, from planning and executing recalls to communicating risks and restoring trust. It draws on the latest research and real-world case studies across consumer goods, food, and automotive sectors, providing managers with actionable insights and strategies to handle recalls effectively and minimize their impact.

Award and Recognition

The EU Product Safety Award, presented by the European Commission, recognizes outstanding contributions that go beyond regulatory requirements to improve consumer product safety in the European Union. The award highlights initiatives and research that deliver meaningful, real-world impact for consumers and regulators alike.

The book received the Gold Award in the Researchers category for its rigorous, research-based analysis of product recall management and its significant contribution to advancing understanding of effective recall preparation, execution, and recovery across complex market environments.
